The title of "Prince" is a mere formality of relation to the King. In reality, Tanek has little to no chance of ever being closer than three feet from the royal throne, namely due to his father being a mere (and extremely dead) knight of the King's Guard, and his mother sister to the Queen. All the same, he received the title and the benefits of growing up in the royal palace beside his cousins and younger sister, a girl of fifteen named Rasine.

His parent's marriage was neither political nor for love. Sir Garrick was merely serving his duty defending the Queen's old home, and was allowed to choose any kind of reward. He chose her sister, the young Sophriana, and she consented. She bore them a child, Tanek, at age sixteen, and then again at twenty-one, Rasine.

If asked, Tanek would say his life to be incredibly dull, and that he craved some excitement. In truth, he just fails to notice how privileged he really was. Since he was old enough to talk, he was taught how to read and write, as well as several languages. His chief childhood friends were the sons of other knights as well as his cousin Thomas, a boy not much younger than he. And by playmate, Tanek knew how to get them to listen to him and follow his orders. As a child he created elaborate war games, raising up armies of children and detailed battle plans, most of which were set on the town children of nearby villages and farms. He would set up mock tourneys and jousts, the prizes being stolen sweets from his sister, or even occasionally Rasine herself, though his father would always put a stop to the games before he could carry these plans out.

Yes, the life of a knight. That's what Tanek wanted. The noble serving of the kingdom. Glory to himself and his family name.

Of course, he failed to remember that knight's die just like everyone else. A rigged joust brought along his father's death when he was ten years old, and shattered these childlike ambitions. His mother mourned appropriately, but moved on soon enough. Garrick had been her husband, and though they had always appeared a shining example of noble romance, she herself held feelings of "courtly love" for another, unnamed man.

Lacking the ambition he once held to become a knight, Tanek threw himself into studies, learning all he could about the culture of the kingdom and those outside of Fairn, though he rarely remembers half of what he's learned. Currently, he has been negotiating for the marriage of his sister in his father's place, but the subject hardly interests him, and he's been letting Rasine to do most of her own decision making.

Tanek has very little interest in securing his own marriage, though he has had many "relationships" with various young ladies throughout the palace.

Sophriana has little to say to her children these days.

There are many words to describe Tanek. Passionate. Determined. Quick-tempered. Spoiled. The boy has little patience, and a tendency to rage over the smallest things. It really does not take much to provoke the boy, or anything at all. He's an extreme perfectionist at heart, and can't stand to see things done halfway and forgotten.

Being royalty, he has a certain mindset of how people are. If they are anything less than highborn, they must answer to his bidding. If they're higherborn than he, well, he probably won't associate with them at all. He was never very fond of the King's children themselves.

Tanek stands of average height, with an average build. Most days, he has to be reminded to "clean himself up"and fix his hair, which is a pale shade of blonde. He has large, extremely blue eyes, just like his mother.
